The Southerns Group achieves BIM Level 2 Certification

Published: October 4, 2017

We are delighted to announce that the Southerns Group has achieved Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 Certification for Design and Construction.
BIM is part of the Government’s strategy to improve efficiency in the construction industry by designing, creating and managing projects through virtual modelling of product and asset data.  The accreditation from the British Standards Institution (BSI) is afforded to companies which utilise new digital technologies to constantly refine ways of working. This in turn improves the delivery of complex infrastructure projects more quickly, safely and efficiently.
One of the only companies in the FF&E sector to achieve the accreditation, it demonstrates our commitment to the highest quality standards and technical excellence in all our working processes.
Our CEO, Andy Kendall-Jones, said: “Achieving BIM Level 2 certification is an important step for our group. This standard will not only benefit our customers and partners but will also give us the ability to meet demanding public sector project requirements. ”
BIM (level) 2 is defined by collaborative working and the pooling of information on a project through the use of common file formats. Covering every phase of the product life cycle from the early stages of conceptualisation through design, manufacture, construction, operation, maintenance right through to the eventual (Lifecycle) of the building.
Congratulations to Craig Oseland and Michael Park of the Design Team (pictured above).
